Tóm tắt: | The study aims at describing structural features of noun phrases in “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen in reference to the Vietnamese translation version by Diep Minh Tam in order to suggest some solutions in translating English noun phrases into Vietnamese.As the research is undertaken with the aim of investigating the noun phrases in the novel, the descriptive and contrastive analysis with the qualitative data will be employed.
The structural features of noun phrases in “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen and their Vietnamese equivalents are mentioned, analysed and compared. The thesis discusses the suggestions in translating English noun phrases in the novel into Vietnamese. Some of errors are emphasized for they are likely to help to-be translators much in their professional practice. By the classification and examples cited, I attempted to help readers of this thesis, especially would-be translators and inexperienced ones to be fully aware of what mistakes they may easily make before seeking ways to avoid them.
Hopefully, readers of this thesis can find it useful in their future work and study or at least see it as a reference worth lookingat.
